Australia’s Silica Cutting Laws – Why Weathertex Cladding is the Safer Choice
The recent introduction of new silica laws in Australia has significantly impacted the construction industry, particularly regarding the handling and processing of materials containing crystalline silica substances (CSS). These regulations aim to protect workers by controlling the risks associated with inhaling silica dust, which can lead to serious health issues such as silicosis.
For more information about recent laws, visit HIA. You can also register and join Weathertex Tuesday Live Webinar on 8th October at 2 PM where we’ll be having Tony Lopez, Assistant Director OHS Policy HIA as our special guest. Tony will guide us through the recent legislative updates and provide valuable insights into how these new laws will affect.
Weathertex: Exempt from Silica Regulations
However, not all materials fall under these new laws. It's important to note that Weathertex cladding is exempt from these requirements as we are made from 97% hardwood timber and 3% wax. Weathertex products contain no added chemicals such as resin, formaldehyde or silica.
